What is Pigment Laser?
Do you suffer from hyperpigmentation, an uneven skin complexion and pigment spots? Then our pigment laser might be the solution! Hyperpigmentation in the face can be experienced as very cosmetically disturbing.
The Quanta System Duetto MT EVO
The new revolutionary laser The Quanta System Duetto MT EVO ensures that hyperpigmentation is reduced. How does laser work exactly? The laser is a light source that works at a specific wavelength (Alexandrite 755 nm) that is absorbed by melanin (pigment), which heats the pigment spot and eventually destroys it, without causing damage to the surrounding tissues. The result can be seen up to a few months after the treatment, patience is very important.
How many treatments are needed?
The laser treatment must be repeated on average 1 to 4 times with a treatment frequency of 3 to 4 weeks. The desired result is an average of 60 to 100% reduction of pigmentation with the exception of (pregnancy) hormones, certain medications and UV radiation. The number of treatments also depends on the type and depth of the pigment. Results may vary by individual.
Are there treatment alternatives? Yes, you can also reduce hyperpigmentation by means of camouflage therapy, microneedling or peelings (Cosmelan from Mesoestetic). Discuss the possibilities with one of our skin therapists.
The pigment laser can be used for the following indications:
- café-au-lait spot (pigment spots)
- lentigo solaris (age spots).
- Melasma (pregnancy mask) – the Cosmelan treatment is more suitable for this
- Skin aging
You cannot undergo the treatment if you have the following indications and/or characteristics:
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Acute active infections (herpes simplex/cold sore) in the treated area
- Medication (antibiotics, prednisone, penicillin, isotretinoin/roacuttane/vitamin a cream and St. John's wort)
- Presence of a pacemaker
- Eczema and psoriasis in the treated area
- Tendency to keloid scarring
- Raised lesions in the treated area (birthmarks)
- Tattoos in the treatment area
- Sunburned skin
- Recent treatment with chemical peel/dermapen in the treated area
- Skin cancer, radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy in the past 5 years.
Always wait two weeks to schedule a treatment after stopping certain medications. If you have any doubts about whether a certain medication can affect the treatment, always contact us.
Aftercare & reimbursements
After the treatment you may feel some heat, which can cause redness that often lasts for several hours. Exposure to sunlight or tanning beds should be avoided during and at least 6 weeks before each (subsequent) treatment. The same applies to the use of self-tanning creams.
The area to be treated should be rubbed several times a day with sun protection with SPF 50.
Avoid the sauna/hammam and swimming pool for 48 hours after the treatment.
Up to 24 hours after the treatment, intensive physical exertion and taking hot showers are not recommended.
