What is Carboxytherapy?
Do you suffer from dark circles, bags or wrinkles under the eyes? It can happen to the best, especially when we haven't had a good night's sleep. However, sometimes puffiness or dark circles don't go away after a good night's sleep. It can provide a tired and less fresh look. Although dark circles and/or bags under the eyes do not harm your health, they can be experienced as annoying.
How do dark circles / puffiness arise
Dark circles or puffiness can not only arise in people due to illness, lack of sleep or poor lifestyle. Dark circles can also be due to genetic predisposition, thinning of the skin or hyperpigmentation. It is therefore important to ask the skin therapist for advice about the cause.
The hereditary form is most common. In addition, sagging can also be hereditary as a result of aging. This can create a wall. In addition, friction in people with hay fever or contact allergy is also a recurring cause. Friction in the eyes should be avoided
During the treatment
With carboxytherapy we literally breathe new life into your skin, without the need for surgery. No fillers or other unnatural substances are used. Carboxytherapy is a natural, fast and effective way to get rid of
dark circles, fine lines and puffiness.
During this carboxytherapy, carbon dioxide is injected into your skin. Carbon dioxide is a body's own substance and therefore naturally already present in your body, which ensures that it is immediately accepted by your skin tissue and cannot cause any damage. The oxygen ensures active cell metabolism and thus improves blood flow, collagen production and improvement of skin volume.
Number of treatments
About 3 treatments are needed for the desired result. The treatment takes place every two weeks. To maintain the desired result, a maintenance session is recommended once a month.
When can you undergo a carboxy treatment? Indications for a carboxy treatment are:
- Dark circles
- bags under the eyes
You cannot undergo the treatment if you have the following indications and/or characteristics:
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Acute active infections (herpes simplex/cold sore) in the treated area
- Medication (antibiotics, penicillin, isotretinoin/vitamin a cream and St. John's wort)
- Eczema and Psoriasis
- Sunburned skin
- Recent treatment with other chemical peel/dermapen in the treatment area
- Skin cancer, radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy in the past 5 years.
Always wait two weeks to schedule a treatment after stopping certain medications. If you have any doubts about whether a certain medication can affect the treatment, please always contact us.
Aftercare & reimbursements
Immediately after the treatment, swelling, redness and tenderness may occur for a short time. This usually disappears after 1 day. With sensitive skin, a bruise can sometimes occur, which also disappears after a few days.
Did you know that some treatments are reimbursed when you have supplementary insurance? Ask the skin therapist what your options are.
Unfortunately, no reimbursement is possible for carboxytherapy.
'Breath new life into your skin '
By using carbon dioxide we literally breathe new life into the skin. This ensures good blood circulation, making bags under the eyes, dark circles and fine lines disappear.
